• After four days of blocking out: jig sawing

A sculpture like this one that I have on my hands now , means a lot of sawing. I prefer to start with a contour template, which I transfer to the stone, and “jig saw” the contour of the sculpture. After I've done that for two sides, the other two sides follow. It's pretty simple work, but for now it means a whole pile of rubble, lots of sludge, and many hard blows with the hammer. At this stage, it is all still very rough work, as you can see on the photos .

  • A whole lump of stone has arrived

Last week, a truck arrived with a large piece of stone; green dolomite for a sculpture in North Brabant.

Since it is a raw block of more than 3 tons, and it is estimated to be 600 kg, there will still be some cutting to do before the shape of the sculpture becomes visible.
