Carving a deep relief coat of arms in sandstone
This video shows how I made a family crest (coat of arms, stone crest ) carved in Bentheim sandstone.
It was winter during the chopping and the temperature was just above freezing. That's why I'm wearing a thick sweater and gloves in this video.
Carving ornaments into an Irish bluestone plinth
I was asked to make a new part for the pedestal of the Hercules statue in Barneveld, The Netherlands. This video shows how I carve the ornaments into the bluestone.
After I had done all the stone cutting work, I started on the ornaments. Because I forgot to turn on the camera, I re-chopped the first part of the process especially for this video, on a trial basis- of offerstuk.
My colleague Stide can be seen at the end of the video, who applies the final finishing strokes with a wide chisel.
Placement of two pedestals and two Hercules statues
Placing the new pedestal that I carved, together with a bronze statue of Hercules by Ton Mooy, in Barneveld, the Netherlands. In addition, the installation of the old pedestal and the old sandstone statue of Hercules in Schaffelaar Castle in Barneveld.
Carving a Venus shell in marble
I have a Venus shell commissioned by a stonemason in the Netherlands- (Scallop)motif carved in quite hard Arabescato marble. This piece served as the vertical part of a sink or small wall fountain.
Due to the short delivery time and the urgency, I completed the work within a few days, based on a photo.
Carving a Stone Falcon – Quick Version

This video gives an insight into the process: from a weathered statue to a new copy in fresh stone, with explanations of various tools and techniques I used.
The falcon in this case originally came from the Valckeniershuis in Franeker and dates back 1662. The copy is, just like the original, carved from Bentheim sandstone and is 63 cms tall (about 2 foot).
