John the Baptist, Amsterdam
In 2010 I carved a sandstone statue of John the Baptist. It has been placed at the corner of St. Jansstraat and the Oudezijdsvoorburgwal in Amsterdam. It stands on a sandstone console on the facade of the corner building.
Apparently there has been a Saint John statue in this street traditionally, hence some people now have chosen to bring back the statue in the streetscape. In other places in the center of Amsterdam, such statues are placed as well.
